Running

This is an incredible song from one of my all-time favorite musicians, Norah Jones. It’s deceptively simple—yet undeniably grand. At its core, you’ve got an easygoing drum beat, a steady bassline, and a delicate piano melody. Cool, right? But here’s where it really becomes something special. First off, the vocal harmonies are flawless. They blend seamlessly into the song without ever feeling lost or overwhelming. And then there’s my favorite part—the chorus. It feels like a slow build-up, leading into this gentle yet powerful moment that just softly explodes. And the lyrics? Absolutely stunning. Just take a look:

“Stars shine, but start to fade in the light. Love is blind, could be wrong, or it could be right. In a bind, telling myself it’s for you.”

Pair that with a killer melody, and it’s no surprise that this track stands out as one of the best moments from one of the greatest jazz, R&B, and pop albums of 2024. It deserves more recognition—because it’s already something special.
