As time goes on, I’m noticing more and more of Montreal’s own Billie du Page making waves on Spotify and Apple Music. Beyond her infectious track Fake Friends (2024)—which I’ll definitely be diving into soon—recently, she dropped her latest single, Not Your Princess (2025). From the very first beat, this track had me hooked, looping its dangerously hypnotic rhythm on repeat.
But what really makes Not Your Princess stand out is its message—one that hits home for many of us. It challenges the way we expect love to play out like a dreamy movie romance, when in reality, it rarely does. Love isn’t always grand gestures and perfect endings; sometimes, it’s messy, complicated, and far from the fairytale we imagine. Despite its bittersweet theme, the track itself is an undeniable banger. With its electrifying beat, I can already picture it dominating club playlists, fuelling late-night dance floors, or even setting the tone for a heartbreak scene in a film.
All in all, if Billie du Page is serving up tracks like this, I can only imagine what she has in store for her upcoming record. One thing’s for sure—she’s an artist to watch.
