My Musical Resolution

I can’t believe that I started off the year without talking to you about my new year’s resolutions! I don’t know what got to me, there’s too many things going on to the point where we forget about what we’re gonna say, and decide to submerge ourselves into something greater. It happened to me, but let me tell you that these resolutions are not going to be the classics that we know. You know, eating healthy, going to the gym, that stuff. Already done, and repetitive. Sure it’s good to keep in mind, but that’s not what I’m aiming for. My resolution is going to be about music. Being more open to the unknown world of music, getting out of my comfort zone, and putting aside songs that I sometimes keep listening to on repeat. I think I’ve heard enough of The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, etc. Sure they’re good bands, but I wanna dig much deeper, into something that sounds soooo good, and yet, pushed aside, and forgotten about because of commercial pop music. So far, it started out great, digging different playlists either on Apple Music, and Spotify, and listening to them on shuffle. Yeah, we can consider it as a gamble, but I’m willing to take that risk. I’ve landed on this Spotify profile called, Somewhere Soul. What’s interesting was how I landed upon the profile from the “Gram,” posting made up scenarios where listening to a record could give you the impression as if you’re experiencing a specific scene within a movie. But apart from that, please do me that favour, and check it out NOW if you want different, and unheard of gems! But it doesn’t stop from there, I strongly encourage you to explore different music playlists, even if you don’t have Spotify, or Apple Music, please! As much as I keep repeating myself, always keep your ears because you never know what you can stumble upon. And, it’s not only the playlists that I wanna check out, I wanna get more into the classic Motown, Atlantic, Stax and Afrobeat scene. I’ve always been amazed at their melodies, rhythmical patterns, and backbeat coming out of these scenes. It’s impossible to hear a song from them and just be bored. Impossible! And, I know that by the end of the year, when I’ll do my yearly review, I’m gonna have even more to talk about, that you can count on!
