Music and It’s Healing Powers

As we go through life, we tend to face different situations. Some are good, and others, well….not so much. For my own perspective, and guaranteed for others, at any mood we tend to face, we seek music as some sort of refugee. A medium to shelter, and help us get through a variety of situations. And I can easily tell that ’m not the only one who uses music as some sort of medium to heal in many given bitter situations. We tend to surround ourselves with, for not only its melodies, but the reasoning behind the lyrics that the musician is interpreting can go along with the situation that we’re facing. To sum it up, I’ve already said this many times before, that music acts as a necessity, just like air, and water. Got heart broken? Play “Desperado,” by The Eagles. Feeling lucky tonight? Let’s hear “Get Lucky,” by Daft Punk. Feeling great, and it’s Saturday night? Let’s add “Night Fever,” by The Bee Gees. But, it doesn’t have to be a song that we can just loop over and over. We can tend to go back towards a record that gravitates us towards an uplifting, and joyful experience. And for streaming platforms,  your own curated themed playlist, or the specific one that’s dedicated to the mood that you’re experiencing. And after we’ve listened, we feel better about ourselves. It’s almost as if music tends to share some sort of spiritual connection with our soul, going inside, and continuously feeding it with nothing but melodies that we love. And look, I’ll go a-little personal here where I remember the first time that I’ve gotten heart broken. It was during the summer of 2016. I was at an event, and got heartbroken over the phone. So what did I do? I put my headphones on and looped Paul McCartney and Wings, “Band on the Run,” not the album, just the song. Out of all the songs in this universe, why did I choose that one specifically? Well….I can’t answer you. But that was the tune that came into my mind right at that experience. Maybe for the lyrics, or the melodic changes, but it sure did help me go through that heartbreak, and as bonus points, I’ve got to explore even more the Wings, and Paul McCartney’s solo catalogue. So if you’re the one who broke my heart while reading this, well, all I can tell you is THANK YOU!
